About
Hello, my name is William Tran. I’m a software developer who
believes pursuing purposeful work is what should get you out of bed
every morning. I see software development as a tool to accomplish
that purpose. Outside of work, I love eating food, following urban
developments, and learning new things (Doesn’t have to be technology related).

Poinks started as a senior project college with a few college friends that eventually
continued through our early profession careers into a startup. Poinks was focused on building a
social loyalty platform that would help local businesses engage their customers. To do this,
we created a platform for our business and a their loyal customers. The platform consist of
a web and tablet kiosk app for the merchant and a user app for their customers.
The merchant platform utilized a web app for merchants to setup their business and create
their rewards for their users. In order to reward their customers, we built a IOS and Android kiosk app
allowing customers to redeem their rewards after a purchase.
Poinks IOS and Android user app allowed users find and pocket rewards from local businesses,
add friends, share rewards with friends, and work towards redeeming rewards. One of the
best features of the app is the ability for the user to share their favorite places with
their favorite friends with the additional benefit bringing new business to merchants.
